For therapists, counsellors and psychologists in private practice
Your last session ends at six. Then the unpaid shift starts.
The directory profile that still opens with “safe space”, the inquiry emails, the policy you keep meaning to write. One practice podcast puts it at 10+ unpaid hours a week. It comes out of your evenings and the energy you save for clients, while the open slots in your calendar stay open.
The Business Side of Your Practice: one Claude Skill with 14 ready-made playbooks.
- Psychology Today & directory profiles
- Website, blog & newsletter copy
- Practice policies & forms
- One-time payment

Directory profile, rewritten in your voice — excerpt
You love your baby. You also haven’t finished a thought since spring. If the night feeds have turned into night-time worrying, and you and your partner keep having the same argument about whose turn it is, you’re not doing parenthood wrong. You’re doing it tired.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with new and expecting parents through the first two years. Our sessions are practical: we look at what’s actually happening in your week, what you need from the people around you, and how to ask for it without it turning into another fight.
Checked before you see it
- Checked: No client details detected: no names, initials, dates or session content
- Checked: Banned phrases removed: “safe space”, “journey”, “healing and growth”
- Checked: No outcome promises or guarantees of results
The other job you do every week
- It’s nine o’clock and you’re still on your Psychology Today profile, deleting “safe space” and then typing it back in because nothing better comes.
- Three inquiry emails came in between sessions. You answer them after dinner at the kitchen table, from scratch, each one a little differently.
- Your About page was written the weekend you opened. You know it doesn’t sound like you, and the agency quote to fix it started at $2,200.
- Your cancellation policy is one you borrowed from a colleague, and your fee is still the number you guessed the week you opened.

How we estimated these numbers
One practice podcast puts the unpaid side of private practice at 10+ hours a week, counting billing, credentialing, marketing and notes. An older APA survey (2015) put psychologists’ admin alone at 7.4 hours a week. 43% of clinicians opened their practice with no formal business training (SimplePractice, 2025), so most of this gets learned on your own time. Below is our estimate of the writing part: your profile, your inbox, your posts and your policies. Notes, billing and credentialing are left out.
- Directory profile, website and listings, 2 h/week: Our estimate, averaged over the year: profile rewrites when inquiries slow, website pages and listing updates. No published per-task figure.
- Inquiry, waitlist and scheduling emails, 2 h/week: Our estimate: about 10 logistics emails a week at roughly 12 minutes each, written from scratch.
- Blog posts, newsletters and social posts, 1 h/week: Our estimate: one short post or newsletter a week. Many therapists post less, some more.
- Policies, forms and fees, 1 h/week: Our estimate, averaged over the year: drafting and updating cancellation, telehealth and social-media policies, blank forms and your fee or sliding scale.
These are our estimates, not measured results. No survey we found splits a therapist’s week by business task, so we spread one podcast’s 10-hour figure across the writing this pack covers and left billing, credentialing and notes out. We then assumed the playbooks cut each task by half at most, because you still add your own details, review every line, check it against your board and send or sign it yourself. With Basic, only the profile, website and posts rows apply.
Week: Unpaid hours a week on billing, credentialing, marketing and notes, by one practice podcast’s estimate (Badass Therapists). It says 10+; we use 10.. Yearly figures use 48 working weeks, monthly ones 4.

Why not just ChatGPT?
Why not just use ChatGPT?
You could, and many already do: 52% of psychologists who use AI write emails and other materials with it (APA 2025). But a blank chat doesn’t know your voice, your board or where client data has to stop, so the time you save drafting goes back into fixing.
Generic AI
- It writes the same profile for everyone: the same cadence, the same adjectives, the same “safe space”. Clients scrolling a directory can’t tell you apart.
- It invents facts and statistics with total confidence, and your name is on the page. 60% of psychologists now worry about AI hallucinations, up from 44% (APA Practitioner Pulse Survey 2025).
- It knows nothing about your licensing body’s rules on advertising, testimonials, titles and outcome claims.
- It hands a UK counsellor a US Good Faith Estimate, or an Ontario therapist a HIPAA policy. One size, wrong country.
The Business Side of Your Practice
Why this works when a blank ChatGPT chat didn’t
- 1
Your voice, not therapist-template voice
Setup interviews you and reads 2–3 things you’ve already written. The profile, website and content playbooks ban stock phrases like “safe space”, “journey” and “healing and growth”, and ask you for concrete details before they call a draft finished.
- 2
It refuses client details, by design
Anthropic doesn’t sign a BAA on Claude’s Free, Pro, Max or Team plans, so every playbook is built to never need one. None asks for client data. Paste a name, a diagnosis or a client’s email and the playbook stops, explains why and offers to redact it or use placeholders like [CLIENT FIRST NAME].
- 3
It knows your board and your country
You declare your licensing body and jurisdiction once. The Marketing Ethics Check flags outcome claims, testimonials and titles to confirm against that code, policies come out drafted for your country with a “review before use” note, and US-only playbooks switch off elsewhere.
How it works
Set up once. Then just ask.
No coding, no prompts to copy. You install it the way you would add a document to Claude.
- 1
Download the ZIP
One file: a single Claude Skill with every playbook in your plan inside. No software to install and no account to create with us beyond checkout.
- 2
Upload it to Claude
Add it once in Claude’s settings. From then on it reads what you ask and opens the right playbook, so you never pick a file yourself. It works on every Claude plan, including the free one, as long as code execution is switched on.
- 3
Set up your Practice Profile in about 5 minutes
A short interview about your practice only: your voice (plus 2–3 things you’ve written), title, licensing body, country or state, niche, public fees and how you see clients. Every playbook reads it from then on. It never asks about clients.
Compare your options
What the business side costs you today
You’re already paying for this part of the practice, in money or in evenings. Here’s how the real options compare.
- A marketing agency or copywriter$2,200–4,500 for a solo practice website (ProjectCostEstimator, 2026)You still have to explain your voice to someone else, and every later change is another invoice.
- More directory listingsPsychology Today about $30 a month per profile; TherapyDen premium $10–30 a monthMore places to pay for, the same words in each. More therapists are listing while traffic stays roughly flat.
- AI add-ons for your practice softwareAbout $20–70 a month for AI note toolsBuilt for clinical notes, which means client data. They don’t write your profile, website or policies, and they bill every month.
- Prompt packs and courses$19–37 for a prompt pack, around £97 for a courseGeneric prompts: no voice interview, no client-data stop, no check against your board.
- Your own evenings10+ unpaid hours a week, by one practice podcast’s estimateAfter a full day of sessions, from a blank page, every time.
- Generic ChatGPTFree, or a monthly planSounds like every other therapist site, invents facts, doesn’t know your board’s rules, and nothing stops a client’s details going in.
- The Business Side of Your Practice$29 or $59, onceOr $29 once for your marketing in your own voice, or $59 once for the whole business side. No subscription, and client data stays out.

Fair questions
What private-practice therapists ask before buying
Is this HIPAA-compliant?
It’s built so client data never goes in, which is what keeps it safe, not a HIPAA label. Anthropic doesn’t sign a BAA on Claude’s Free, Pro, Max or Team plans, so no playbook asks for client information and every playbook stops if client details appear. That also means you must never use it with PHI. Setup explains exactly what your Claude plan does and doesn’t cover.
Is this ethical under my code?
It stays on the administrative side that ethics guidance treats as the safe zone: marketing, logistics, policies and business, with no client data, no diagnosis, no crisis work and no therapeutic advice. Marketing copy is checked against the body you declare, and anything uncertain is flagged for you to confirm against your own code.
Will it sound like AI?
Not if it can help it. Setup interviews you and reads 2–3 things you’ve already written. Every writing playbook bans the stock phrases (“safe space”, “journey”) and asks for concrete details before finishing. You still edit and approve everything.
How much time will it actually save me?
We can’t promise a number, and nobody has measured it for therapists. Our estimate is about 3 hours a week with Pro (about 1.5 with Basic), assuming your profile, emails, posts and policies take about half as long when you start from a draft in your voice. You still add the details only you know, review every line and send or sign it yourself.
I already use ChatGPT.
This pack is built as a Claude Skill, and ChatGPT has no equivalent way to install it once and have it pick the right playbook for each job. Claude’s free plan is enough to try it, an account takes a minute, and you can keep ChatGPT for everything else. The client-data rule is the same in both: ChatGPT Free, Plus and Business don’t come with a BAA either, so no PHI goes into either one.
Built for your rules
Set up for your country and your licensing body
You declare your jurisdiction and professional body once, at setup. Policies and forms carry it at the top with a “review before use” note, and the US-only playbooks switch off where they don’t apply.
Your setup
United States
LPC/LMHC, LCSW, LMFT and psychologists, set up by state and licensing board.
- Policies framed for HIPAA, with a plain-language Good Faith Estimate explainer for self-pay clients
- Superbill & Out-of-Network Explainer turned on, with generic text and no filled-in superbills
- Directory copy written for Psychology Today and TherapyDen
- Scope follows the “administrative support” line in Illinois law: logistics, billing and marketing, never therapeutic advice
Guardrails
Built so client data never goes in
Anthropic doesn’t sign a Business Associate Agreement on Claude’s Free, Pro, Max or Team plans, and even on HIPAA-ready Enterprise, Skills are not covered. So the only honest design is one that never handles client information. That’s the whole point of this pack.
Sample verification block
From: Directory profile, rewritten in your voice — excerpt
- Checked: No client details detected: no names, initials, dates or session content
- Checked: Banned phrases removed: “safe space”, “journey”, “healing and growth”
- Checked: No outcome promises or guarantees of results
- Verify: [VERIFY] Free 15-minute call and quarterly sliding-scale spots match your Practice Profile
- 01
A client-data tripwire in every playbook
Names or initials, dates of birth, addresses, contact details, a diagnosis tied to a person, session content, identifying details or a pasted client email: the playbook stops, tells you why, offers to redact or rewrite with placeholders, and carries on with generic text only. No playbook ever asks for client data.
- 02
Administrative support only
Modelled on the “administrative support” scope in Illinois law: logistics, marketing, policies and business. Never therapeutic advice, diagnosis, crisis management or any therapeutic interaction. No clinical notes, SOAP/DAP, treatment plans or clinical intake.
- 03
Crisis goes to your protocol, not to AI
If something you type describes a crisis, the Skill doesn’t respond to the substance. It points you to your practice’s own crisis protocol.
- 04
Honest about your Claude plan
Setup tells you plainly: no BAA on Pro, Max or Team; Skills aren’t covered on HIPAA-ready Enterprise; connectors such as Gmail and Drive aren’t covered either. That’s why the pack never touches your client inbox or your records.
- 05
Your board and jurisdiction, declared up front
US state, UK (BACP/UKCP), Ontario (PHIPA), Australia (APS) or New Zealand. Every policy and form states it at the top, with a note to have it reviewed.
- 06
Marketing claims checked
No promises of results. Testimonials, titles and credentials are checked against the code you declared, and anything uncertain is flagged for you to confirm.
- 07
An anti-generic voice engine
A voice interview, a list of banned phrases and a push for concrete detail before any text is finished, so it sounds like you and not like a template.
- 08
A verification block on every output
Key claims listed, uncertain items marked [VERIFY], and the human checks you need to do. Statistics come only from sources you provide; anything else is marked.
- 09
You sign, not the AI
Every policy and form is a draft for you to review and sign. Nothing is ever described as “compliant” just because AI wrote it.
FAQ
Everything else
Didn’t find your answer? Email us:hello@summonskills.com
What will it never touch?
Client data of any kind, clinical notes, SOAP/DAP notes, treatment plans, clinical intake, diagnosis, crisis responses and anything inside the therapy itself. It never connects to your client inbox or your records.
Do I need a BAA with Anthropic?
Not for this pack, because it’s designed to never receive PHI. For context: Anthropic signs BAAs only for its API, HIPAA-ready Claude Enterprise and Claude in Microsoft Foundry. Free, Pro, Max and Team aren’t eligible, and even on Enterprise, Skills aren’t covered. That’s why no PHI should ever go into this Skill.
What if I paste client details by accident?
The playbook stops, tells you what it spotted and why it matters, and offers to redact the text or rewrite it with placeholders like [CLIENT FIRST NAME]. It only continues on generic text.
Does it work on the free Claude plan?
Yes. A Claude Skill can be uploaded as a ZIP on every Claude plan, Free included, as long as code execution is switched on in settings.
Can I use it with ChatGPT instead?
No. It’s built as a Claude Skill, and ChatGPT has no equivalent way to install it once and have it pick the right playbook for each job. Claude’s free plan is enough to try it, an account takes a minute, and you can keep ChatGPT for everything else. Whatever you write with it is yours to use anywhere: your website, your directory profile, your email platform.
What’s in the ZIP?
One Claude Skill. Inside, a router file (SKILL.md) reads what you ask and opens the right playbook, one Markdown file per job: 5 in Basic, 14 in Pro. You never pick a file yourself. Pro also comes with a bonus pack (a template library of emails and policies, and sample outputs from every playbook) and 12 months of updates.
I’m outside the US. Does it still fit?
Yes. You declare your country and professional body at setup (UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand), and policies follow it. The US-only playbooks, superbills and the Good Faith Estimate, simply switch off.
Is it a subscription? What about refunds?
No subscription. You pay once and keep it. If it isn’t right for your practice, ask for a refund within 30 days and you’ll get your money back.
Some of your evenings back. No client ever in the chat.
Your directory profile, website, policies and admin templates in your own voice, for your country and your board, with client data kept out of every step. By our estimate, about 3 hours a week back with Pro: an estimate, not a promise. One-time, from $29. Try it for 30 days; if it doesn’t earn its place, you get a full refund.
One payment, yours to keep · 30-day money-back guarantee
